Richard Bramley is the Operations Manager of the family-owned Ewan Bramley Dental Care private dental practice in North Shields, North Tyneside. Over the practice’s 14 years in operation, it has grown to include five dentists, six hygienists, a nursing team, an admin team and even its very own laboratory.

The lab, a feature that sets Ewan Bramley Dental Care apart from a lot of dental practices in the region, permits Richard and his team to make their own clear aligners and braces and even to make, stain, glaze and finish their own prosthetics, such as crowns and bridges. This set-up facilitates a much more dynamic and cost-effective response as the need to send lab work to third parties is completely removed but additionally opens up a two-way dialogue between dentists and technicians that streamlines the process, leading to a higher quality product.

 

The Challenge

Many Practice Managers in 2023 have already migrated towards digitally handling their practice’s compliance activities; with the list of benefits, including less time spent on compliance, already well known. However, for Richard, not all software solutions are created equally.

“Before we had iManage, I didn’t have the confidence that the software we were using was going to get us through a CQC inspection well!”

The origins of this lack of confidence were twofold for him. Firstly, Richard wasn’t sure if he understood exactly what the CQC wanted from him, and, consequently, was unsure if what he was putting in was correct.
