Course Details
This course is designed for those aspiring towards a career in animal care and need a starting point into the role, or for those who are already employed in veterinary practice in this role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills.
You will be presented with a course module followed by an assessment.
- If you achieve 80% or more, you pass the course and will receive a printable certificate. If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident.
Aims
This course aims to provide an introduction to animal husbandry, as well principles of animal healthcare, species, breeds, conformational awareness and vital signs. It also covers animal handling and basic restraint techniques for cats and dogs.
Objectives
During this course learners will be able to:
- Gain knowledge in basic veterinary medical terminology.
- Know the basic principles of animal husbandry and animal healthcare, including the 5 freedoms of Animal Welfare in the UK.
- Understand the difference between species, breeds, and parameters, including gestation periods, temperature/respiratory rates, etc.
- Restrain different species of patients they will work with.
